Buzzfeed just might be where time goes to die. While I love to look at the lists of scandalous posts via the Whisper app or the latest celebrity story that "broke Twitter" (Hi Solange!) I occassionally find some truly thought provoking and inspiring stories. In honor of Mother's Day they publshed a an article entitled "12 Writers on The Women Authors Who Inspired Them", based on the Tumblr site. Figuring it was worth a light read, I opened it and ended up truly getting gold.
Don’t look now
I’m fading away
Into the gray of my mornings
Or the blues of every night
Is it that my nails
keep breaking
Or maybe the corn
on my second little piggy
Things keep popping out
on my face
or
of my life
It seems no matter how
I try I become more difficult
to hold
I am not an easy woman
to want
- Nikki Giovanni
The writers and their stories shared were truly personal, candid, and humbling. The books referenced with passion and praise immediately inspired Google and Amazon searches for additional information; I actually wanted more.
